Let's get you feeling some joy
From low-energy-required resources to big and bold in-person celebrations, here's how we can help you thrive.
All ADY Life Center programs are open to everyone. No one will ever be turned away for inability to pay.
Thriver Parades
You're still here, despite everything. That's worth celebrating with a parade!
Thriver Parades are a full-on Mardi Gras-style way to celebrate resilience, life, and finding joy even in rough times.
You'll parade with other Thrivers who have also been through it, and their Krewes (friends and family members). Because you deserve to celebrate being alive, and be celebrated for what you've had to deal with.
Laughs and fantastic memories are guaranteed, and all abilities are accommodated. You'll feel understood, encouraged and uplifted, and you're sure to create wonderful new connections along the way.

The next Thriver Parade is in fall of 2026.

"I thought my parading days were long gone and I'd cheer from the sidelines. But my wife and friends thought otherwise: 'You ain't dead yet,' they said, so they arranged a decorated pedicab and I rolled along right with them. Many onlookers thought I was the parade celebrant: I received numerous cheers, waves from kiddos, blown kisses, and close-up photos. It was wonderful!"
Joy Labs
Joy Labs are interactive, thought-provoking workshops that explore how to find joy as you handle big changes in your life. Sounds corporate but they're not! They're fun and inspiring, and you'll leave bursting with ideas. They are designed and facilitated to be practical, giving you information, tools and techniques you can apply in your life right away.
All Joy Labs are evidence-based and grounded in research conducted by academic institutions like UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center.
Check out our Upcoming Events for the next Joy Lab.
Thriver Krewes*
Thriver Krewes are local communities by city/region.
Like a book club, but much more fun! You'll get together monthly (online or in person) with people who are also looking for some lightness while dealing with hard things. You'll learn about why joy is important to resilience and well-being, and how to bake more of it into your day-to-day. Sharing ideas and cheering for each other is a big part of it, so you'll be invited to participate to whatever degree you can.
"A crew is inescapably, beautifully, dutifully linked."
Want to find or start a Thriver Krewe for your area? Get in touch. We'll support ya.
Take our 5 Day Joy Challenge* A Krewe is a club or social organization that creates parades and balls in New Orleans to celebrate Carnival. We've adopted the term for the people who laugh, cry and celebrate with us, the ones who show up, who get it, and who make life better just by being in it.
The Joy Box
Here's where you can find information about the science behind joy and its impact on us, carefully curated by the ADY Life Center team. Plus you can read relatable, uplifting stories from Thrivers. Listen to podcasts and interviews on how joy is a tool for resilience and healing.
And we have also included fun resources to inspire you to thrive, because joy in hard times is not a luxury, it's a necessity!
"As I try not to slip into a spiral about all the life worries and stress, cancer and non-cancer related alike, that can consume my thoughts, I'm trying to bring small acts of joy into my daily life. Something to help me stay present, grateful, and keep trudging along through this swamp season of life.
Don't get me wrong, some days I want to scream, cry, and jump off this ride entirely. But I'm hoping this little collection of joys can be a helpful reminder, to myself, and to anyone else who might need it too."
